Australia Day Awards: Nominations closing!

Do you know an individual, community group or organisation that deserves to be recognised for their significant contribution to our Region?  Nominations for the 2022 Australia Day Awards are closing 4pm, Friday 19 November 2021.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said we should take this opportunity to recognise our outstanding individuals and community groups.

“We are continually amazed by the efforts of people within our Region.  Nominations are a perfect way to acknowledge and thank those that work to make the lives of others in our community better whilst making our communities and clubs stronger.”

The Australia Day Awards Program recognises the valuable achievements of individuals who have excelled in their chosen field of sport, art, or culture as well as being outstanding role models and community advocates.

Categories include:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Event
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year
  • Sports Administrator of the Year
  • Cultural Person of the Year
  • Young Cultural Person of the Year

Anyone can nominate so if you know of a person or community group who make a difference to life in the Charters Towers Region, don't miss the opportunity to nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

All nominees will be invited to attend the Charters Towers Regional Council Australia Day Awards Ceremony. Winners will be announced at the special awards ceremony held on Australia Day for nominees, their guests, and the community.

Nominating is an easy process and nominations can be lodged online at www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/australia-day-awards or Nomination Forms are also available at Council’s offices.
