Council offers a variety of payment methods for paying all Council bills; whether it be a Rate Notice; Animal Notice or an Invoice covering any category of fees and charges. All methods are explained below.
Credit Card
Council accepts the following credit cards:

- Mastercard
- American Express
Credit Card On-Line
To make an on-line credit card payment, select one of the payment platforms above.

Credit Card by Scan & Pay
BillPay Scan & Pay is available with an iPhone™, iPad™ or Android Device.
Download the Australia Post app, select 'Pay your bill', scan the barcode and enter your payment details.
Bank Account Transfer
To make an electronic payment from your bank account, use BPAY®.
Payments can be made using the telephone or internet. To pay via BPAY, contact your financial institution. Council does not accept credit card payments via BPAY. Please take into account bank cut-off days and times when making payments.

To send a payment through the mail use only Cheques or Money Orders.
Payable to: | Charters Towers Regional Council (marked 'Not Negotiable'). |
Identify what payment is for: | Attach copy of bill being paid or write 'bill number' on back of cheque. |

On the back of the envelope: | Sender's name and address. |
Sender's name and address. | Attach a request with your payment. |
In Person
To pay your invoice in person, using cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS (to your daily limit), visit one of the following:

Australia Post Offices
Payment can be made at any Australia Post Office across the Country.
Instalments
Instalments are a great way to pay off your rate account. They can also be used to make prepaid instalments, reducing the amount owing when rate notices are received.

Guidelines for Electronic Payments
Before making a payment, have the following information ready:
- Biller Code
- Reference Number (Printed on the invoice you are paying)
- Amount you are paying
- Credit Card Details
- Number
- Expiry Date
- Security Number (CVN – Card Verification Number)
Be sure to keep a record of your receipt number.
