PUBLIC NOTICE – CHANGES TO ROAD CLOSURE ON MILLCHESTER ROAD & VICTORY STREET

 

During recent roadworks, despite road closures being in place, motorists have continued to drive through road closed signs causing an unacceptable risk to fellow road users and road workers.

In order to ensure both public and Council employee safety, from Monday, 14 February 2022, Millchester Road will be closed from the western side of the Charters Towers Toyota access to the railway crossing. A detour via New Queen Road will be in place for all traffic in and out of the Town Centre. Road users are requested to follow all traffic signs in place or risk fines by Queensland Police who have been undertaking traffic surveillance in the area.

Normal traffic routes will be restored on Millchester Road once Council crews proceed to Sadds Lane in early March (weather permitting) to complete the remainder of these works. Separate advice will be provided once the Sadds Lane stage of works begins.

Council acknowledges that the works may cause some inconvenience and requests the community’s patience and cooperation during these works.
