Charters Towers Regional Council adopted its 2021-2022 Annual Report at yesterday’s General Meeting of Council.

As required by legislation, the Annual Report highlights Council’s achievements and details key initiatives undertaken throughout the 2021-2022 financial year, as well as Council’s financial reporting.

Following adoption of the 2021-2022 Budget, Council committed to a strong focus on renewing our region.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said when he reflects on the previous financial year, he was pleased to see the direction Council was heading in.

“Council continued to fulfill its commitment to the community with support through their various grants, including Community Grants and Financial Support for Junior Athlete’s initiatives.

“Despite some challenges, the organisation has made great accomplishments,” said Mayor Beveridge.

Council teams, like many others across the country, have continued to provide community services amidst a Pandemic and need to be commended for working through the challenges presented.

Significant achievements during 2021-2022 include completion of the Defiance Mill Park Pump Track project and the upgrade of the Millchester Road-Victory Street intersection in Charters Towers.

Council also developed a programme of events for the Region’s 150 year celebrations and delivered the Charters Towers Liveability Project to promote the Charters Towers Region.

“It was a busy 12 months for Council and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Councillors, the Executive Team, and staff for their ongoing dedication to our organisation,” continued Mayor Beveridge.

The 2021-2022 Annual Report is available on Council’s website and can be found at www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/annual-reports.
