“Jay is the Director of Brisbane’s Paralympic Football Program, who has had four program participants represent Australia,” said Acting Mayor Lohmann.

“His visit will allow residents to hear from and meet a very committed, dedicated and inspiring Australian,” said Acting Mayor Lohmann.

Mr Larkins is visiting as an Ambassador as part of the Australia Day Ambassador Program.

The Pool Party will include activities for all age groups including free pool entry, free sausage sizzle, thong throwing competition and the pool inflatable will be up for all to enjoy.

The Australia Day celebrations will include a Citizenship Ceremony, which welcomes new citizens from Poland, Philippines, Ireland Republic, Thailand, New Zealand, Japan and India. There is also the presentation of the Citizen of the Year, among many other accolades, at the Australia Day Awards Ceremony.

Acting Mayor Lohmann said the Australia Day Awards acknowledge and reward those dedicated and inspiring members of our community who work and volunteer to make our region a better place.
