Some of Australian’s best musicians will perform at the Rush Festival’s Goldrush Concert in Charters Towers on Saturday, 7 October 2023.

Audiences will be taken on a musical journey as favourites Wendy Matthews, The Chantoozies, Choirboys, and Eskimo Joe take to the stage in one night of jam-packed entertainment.

Aussie rock royalty the Choirboys are most recognised for their 1987 anthem ‘Run to Paradise’ and Eskimo Joe have had a string of hits including ‘Black Fingernails, Red Wine’, ‘Sarah’, and ‘From the Sea’.

Wendy Matthews had a string of nineties hits including ‘Let’s Kiss (Like Angels Do),’ ‘Token Angels’ and ‘Friday’s Child’, while pop group The Chantoozies had breakout hits ‘Witch Queen’ and ‘Wanna Be Up’.

Rush Festival Spokesperson Jason ‘Wolfie’ Wolfgram said he was thrilled to see this level of Australian talent playing in Charters Towers and encouraged locals and visitors alike to embrace the live event.

“It’s not every day you are treated to four amazing acts of this calibre right here in Charters Towers.

“For most this will be an opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a mix of classics that have truly stood the test of time,” said Mr Wolfgram.

The Goldrush Concert, which will see some of the region’s talented local performers open for the headline artists from 2.30pm, is just one part of a fun, action packed weekend with activities planned to cater for everyone.

“Festivities kick off on Friday, 6 October with the Twilight Markets and Film Festival, which is a family favourite and a chance to browse through the stalls, grab something to eat and enjoy locally made short films and entertainment.

“On Sunday, 8 October grab a team of friends or work colleagues and head back to the Showgrounds to take part in the annual Towers Rush event, which is always a great social morning spent exploring and experiencing the best of Charters Towers,” continued Mr Wolfgram.
