New round of community grants open 2019

Council has opened their round 2 of Community Grant funding for this financial year. Not-for-profit organisations in the region are being invited to apply for funding up to $5,000.
The funding is available for projects, events or services occurring between January – June 2020.
Mayor Liz Schmidt said the grants provide much-needed assistance to community groups.
“Council is happy to support our community groups through our Community Grant funding. Earlier this year we provided Grants to 16 not-for-profit organisations located and operating within the Region.
“These grants provide monetary and/or in-kind support to assist groups purchase equipment, upgrade facilities or reduce costs associated with running their events.”
In June of this year, Council approved funding for just over $50,000 to different community organisations. Some of these included:
- Homestead Community Christmas Tree event (Homestead Progress Association Inc)
- The installation of a triple jump pit (Charters Towers Athletic Club Inc)
- The construction of a new motor sport facility (Charters Towers Burn Out Club Inc)
- Community Gardens and Artefacts Project (Greenvale State School P & C Association)
- Purchase of portable shade structures, seating and shelving (Charters Towers Amateur Swimming Club Inc)
- Ravenswood Rush Event (Ravenswood State School P & C)
- Barramundi stock for release into the Burdekin River (Charters Towers & Dalrymple Fish Stocking Group Inc.)
- NAIDOC Week Celebrations (Gudgalbara Indigenous Corporation)
Local, not-for-profit organisations that are seeking funding have until Friday, 29 November 2019 to submit an application. Applications that demonstrate the greatest benefit to the Region will be considered favourably.
