The Charters Towers Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) Committee has held the final meeting of their four-year term.

Committee members who have served for a continuous four-year term are required to ‘rest’ for a period of 12 months before being eligible for re-nomination.

Volunteers on the RADF Committee are representative of the diverse arts, culture, heritage and communities of the Region.

The Committee consists of local artists, cultural workers, members of cultural groups, members of local organisations or associations, people active in their community and Councillors which is ratified by Council.

Cr Graham Lohmann said each member of the Committee is selected to represent a community sector or an arts sector that reflects their expertise.

“RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by our community. The Committee is responsible for assessing RADF applications against the RADF Guidelines and providing advice to applicants.

“We are grateful for the outgoing Committee’s commitment, advice and service over the past 4 years. Their knowledge and input have been invaluable in helping achieve the objectives of RADF to build local cultural capacity, cultural innovation and community pride,” said Cr Lohmann.

The outgoing committee also deliberated on community nominations and proposed committee members to continue this valuable role.  The new committee members will serve for up to 4 years.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Charters Towers Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
