Council is calling on the community to take advantage of final round of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) for 2019-2020.

RADF 2019-20 promotes the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of diverse and inclusive communities and strong regions. RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by local communities, across Queensland.

The aim of this round is creative projects with a focus on our history, vibrant townships and partnerships.

Councillor Graham Lohmann said categories are deliberately broad to give individuals, community groups and organisations the opportunity to apply for funding support for arts projects.

“The Queensland Government and Council want to invest in quality arts and cultural experiences, which can connect arts and non-arts groups to create a diverse audience.

“We’re looking for projects that add value to the community and show innovation. Applications for traditional arts, innovative, inspirational and aspirational projects would be welcome for consideration by the committee.

“I want to encourage the community to apply for funding to bring their projects to fruition,” said Cr Lohmann.

Council is also seeking nominations from interested individuals to fill vacancies on the RADF Committee.

The RADF Committee consists of local artists and cultural workers, members of cultural groups, members of local organisations or associations, people active in their community, and is ratified as an advisory committee to Council. Nominations close Monday 3 February 2020.

The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Charters Towers Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
