Councillor Message - Road Works - Cr Roma Bailey

Back

Last week Council contractors began work on our annual road surfacing program. It’s Council’s commitment to maintain our assets which will require a number of local roads within Charters Towers to be resurfaced over the next two months.

The works will involve lane closures with temporary detours in place. Most work will occur between 6am to 6pm, however, as there will be a number of roads around the CBD, night works will be required to reduce impacts to traffic.

Council contractors will provide individual notices to residents and businesses in the affected areas, to advise when works will be undertaken.

Works will also include the resurfacing of the Centenary Park carpark and the Defiance Mill carpark.

A full list of road surfacing works is available on Council’s website.

To allow progression of works to occur unhindered and to limit damage to vehicles, residents are asked to park vehicles off the street on the days works are scheduled.

Our priority is to ensure Council staff/contractors are working safely and we’re providing a safe environment for the community when they use roadways.

To keep staff safe and the community safe, we’re asking the community heed road signage and reduce speed where indicated.

Council acknowledges that the works may cause inconvenience and appreciates the community’s cooperation. Should you require any further information, please contact Council on 4761 5300.
