Region set to fast-track economic development and tourism with new Strategies

Back

To fast-track development and provide a clear blueprint for innovation, Charters Towers Regional Council is developing a dedicated Economic Development and Innovation Strategy and Tourism Management Plan.

Mayor Liz Schmidt said the purpose of these plans is to facilitate ways to increase wealth in the region, promote population growth, and focus on providing employable skills to develop and promote new and diverse industries.

“These Strategies will contain key recommendations and priorities to shape our approach to building, supporting and future-proofing the local economy.

“We plan to back our strengths, build innovation in the region, support startups and small business, and focus on expanding and education opportunities.

“The Strategies are being developed in close consultation with local business and our community to ensure we’re prioritising actions that are important to the Region”

“We’re inviting business and community members who have an interest in economic development, innovation and tourism to ‘have their say.’

“Registrations for these sessions are already coming in and it’s great our community is wanting to be a part of this exciting process,” said the Mayor.

Charters Towers Regional Council will be hosting a series of free community consultation sessions and workshops to give stakeholders of the region a chance to contribute to developing the region.

The sessions will be held at Council’s Gold and Beef rooms at 12 Mosman Street, Charters Towers.
