BOIL WATER NOTICE - RAVENSWOOD

Back

A boil water notice has been issued for properties connected to the Ravenswood water supply schemes. Recent rain has increased the turbidity (cloudiness) of the sources, and the water supply cannot be adequately treated.

Residents connected to the Ravenswood water supply scheme must boil water for consumption until further notice.

Consumption of unboiled water could lead to illness, especially for vulnerable people (e.g. very young, elderly and those with weak immune systems). If you are concerned that you may have been affected by contaminated water contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84), your local doctor or the hospital and advise them about your concerns.

Bring water to a boil by heating until a continuous and rapid stream of air-bubbles is produced from the bottom of a pan or kettle. Kettles with automatic cut-off switches are suitable and variable temperature kettles should be set to boil. After heating, water must be allowed to cool before using it, and be stored in a clean, closed container for later use.

You should boil all water used for:

  • drinking
  • brushing teeth
  • washing and preparing food or beverages
  • preparing baby formula
  • making ice
  • bathing babies and toddlers

Unboiled water may be used for:

  • showering and bathing (avoid getting water in your mouth)
  • washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher
  • washing clothes
  • flushing toilets

Thank you for your cooperation.
