Community Grants Programme: Round one open

Back

Charters Towers Region community groups can soon apply for up to $5,000.

Round one of the Community Grants Programme will open on 1 May 2021 to help fund activities, programs, or services happening between 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2021.

The Community Grants Programme is back after it was replaced by the one-off Not-For-Profit Sporting and Recreation Support Programme last year in response to the financial difficulties organisations faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Councillor Graham Lohmann, whose portfolio includes Community Grants, said these grants will allow Council to support community groups in their preparations for events and encourage new and diverse projects in the Charters Towers Region.

“After the significant financial hit our local groups experienced last year, we understand that many not-for-profit organisations need support to fund their events this year.

“We hope the Community Grants Programme can assist with organising new events and programs for the community.

“The grants can provide monetary and in-kind support to assist groups purchase equipment, upgrade facilities, or reduce costs associated with running events,” said Cr Lohmann.

Sports, recreation, arts, and other community-related groups are encouraged to apply.

Round one closes on 31 May 2021.
