Charters Towers will host this year’s North Queensland Sportstar Awards on 30 October 2021.

The Sportstar awards recognise the achievements of North Queensland’s elite athletes and sports administrators. It is the highest level of regional recognition for all nominees and a celebration of sports across North Queensland.

The prestigious event will include pre-dinner canapes, followed by the gala dinner and awards night.

Australia’s first Winter Olympic gold medallist, Steven Bradbury will be the motivational guest speaker.

Cr Kate Hastie, whose portfolio includes sport and recreation, said this was a great opportunity to recognise the North’s top athletes and showcase the Charters Towers Region.

“The Awards night will be a great event for our community and we are lucky to have Steven Bradbury coming to share his wonderful experiences with our athletes and community.

“Award nominations are accepted from local government areas within the footprint of the North Queensland Sports Foundation (NQSF), which spans as far north as Port Douglas, west to Mount Isa and south to Mackay.

“The Awards are a great opportunity to show visiting athletes and their family and friends everything our region has to offer,” said Cr Hastie.

This year’s awards will take place at the Arthur Titley Centre, 101 Mosman Street, Charters Towers.  All nominees will be showcased, with winners and runners-up announced on the night.

Charters Towers Regional Council is hosting the North Queensland Sportstar Awards in partnership with the North Queensland Sports Foundation.
