Council remains optimistic despite grant outcome

In keeping with Council’s commitment to open and transparent communication, Council wishes to inform the community that while Council was not successful in securing funding through Growing Regions Program for the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool (KRMP) redevelopment, Council remains committed to pursuing opportunities that support the growth and development of the facility.

This is an important initiative for our community, and Council is confident in its potential to deliver significant benefits.  Council has already submitted an application for the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program (rPPP) and is hopeful for a positive outcome.

Revitalisation of the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool will significantly enhance aging community infrastructure and access to aquatic, leisure, recreational, and educational facilities, while meeting modern day safety, design and compliance standards.

Mayor Liz Schmidt said although this result is not what we had hoped for, Council is not deterred.

“We’re optimistic about the next grant application and will continue to explore all avenues to bring this project to life,” continued Mayor Schmidt.

In the meantime, Council will continue exploring other funding opportunities to ensure that the project remains viable and aligned with the community’s needs.

The outcomes of the second grant application will provide critical guidance on the next steps for the project.  Pending the outcome, Council will carefully evaluate all available options to determine the best way forward.

“Rest assured, we are exploring every avenue to bring this vision to life and will continue to keep the community updated as we progress”, Mayor Schmidt added.
