ALERT #14 - BE WATER AWARE

Back

Charters Towers residents and the business community are advised that Level 2 Water Restrictions (High) are currently still in effect.

The larger temporary pump line is still in use, increasing the capacity to the reservoir. However, permanent repairs remain dependent on the river dropping further to allow safe access for works.

In the meantime, the community is encouraged to help maintain a daily water usage target of 8 megalitres (ML) by following these restrictions:

  • Micro spray and drip systems with timers: 7pm–8am on the odds and evens system.
  • No sprinkler use at any time.
  • Hand-held hoses, watering cans, and buckets may be used.

Facility Closures updates:

  • Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool: Reopened
  • Charters Towers Water Park: To reopen Wednesday, 26 February
  • Standpipes: Reopened
  • Saleyards Washdown Bay: Reopened

The Charters Towers water consumption for Sunday, 23 February was 5.08 ML

Updates will be provided every Monday and Thursday.
