Funding open for creative Towers projects

The Charters Towers Regional Council is calling on local artists to apply for round one of the 2020 – 2021 Regional Arts Development Fund.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the original closing date has been pushed back.

Anyone who wants to apply now has until 16 November.

Arts and Culture portfolio chair Councillor Graham Lohmann is encouraging any local artist with a creative project to get in an application.

“We want to hear about projects that celebrate our history and heritage, our vibrant communities, our partnerships, and our collaborations,” he said.

“And it doesn’t only have to be a mural or a painting.

“It can also be an event, festival, performance, or animating a public space or place,” Cr Lohmann said.

The 2020-2021 rounds of the Regional Arts Development Fund are the first under the new committee.

The committee was voted in earlier this year and will be responsible for assessing the applications against the guidelines and providing advice to anyone who applies.

The fund is a partnership between the Charters Towers Regional Council and the Queensland Government to help support local arts and culture in the region.
