Macrossan Bridge
Following flood warning advice issued by the Bureau of Meteorology, Council anticipates the Macrossan Bridge at Sellheim will close later today and may remain closed for some time.
Charters Towers Local Disaster Management Group issued the notice this morning with Chairman Mayor Frank Beveridge warning of the likelihood of lengthy delays.
Mayor Beveridge advised residents to steer clear of flooded roads and to keep in mind the secondary risks associated with the current weather event.
“We’re asking members of the community to exercise caution when driving, not only in relation to flooding but in relation to potholes and other debris that may be scattered on the road,” he said.
Council appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this time.
Updates will be available on the Council’s website with residents advised to check the CTRC Emergency Dashboard for the latest information.
