New tourism brand will be ‘unearthed’ tonight

An exciting new chapter in Charters Towers’ tourism will be revealed at the Unearth Our Secrets event at The World Theatre tonight.

Council will unveil the new Charters Towers Tourism Destination Brand.

The new brand will replace Visit Charters Towers and make the Region stand out as an attractive destination option.

Deputy Mayor Sonia Bennetto said the new brand has come together after a lot of hard work from people passionate to see the Charters Towers tourism industry flourish.

“About 150 people turned up to the 10 community consultation sessions we held last year,” she said.

“Their input was vital to helping us find out what brand to build for the Charters Towers Region tourism and economic industries.

“We further workshopped these ideas to identify tourism-related gaps and opportunities which helped to shape our own Charters Towers Destination Management Plan,” Cr Bennetto said.

The new branding will be available on the www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au tonight from 8pm.

Councillor Julie Mathews, whose portfolio includes Tourism Economic Development, has encouraged local businesses to use the branding where possible.

“It will be available for use for those businesses with an interest in tourism,” she said.

“The new branding is uniquely Charters Towers and plays on our history, opportunities in agritourism, and our unknown tourism potential,” Cr Mathews said.

The next stages of the unveiling will see a newly designed 2021 Visitor Information Guide and updates to the www.visitcharterstowers.com.au website.
