Locals encouraged to sign up at Sign on Day

Charters Towers locals will be able to learn about the wide range of sporting clubs, community groups, and volunteering opportunities available in the Region at this week’s Sign on Day.

This free event provides an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to find out what is on offer in the Region.

Some of the exhibitors this year include Charters Towers Scout Group, Towers Players, Charters Towers Demons, and CT Gold City Suns.

Councillor Kate Hastie, whose portfolio includes Sports and Recreation, said it is a great way to talk directly with local clubs and groups.

“The Sign on Day provides an opportunity for many of our sporting clubs and community groups to showcase what they have to offer,” she said.

“It’s a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information in a convenient location for the community.

“You can ask questions, get more information about the different sports, clubs, and groups, and sign up on the day,” said Cr Hastie.

Local sporting clubs and community organisations wanting to be part of the day are also being encouraged to register their interest.

“Last year was a particularly disruptive year for sports and recreation in the Region due to COVID-19,” said Cr Hastie.

“The Sign on Day is a great opportunity for clubs and groups to spread awareness and hopefully get some more people from the community involved in sports, recreation, or volunteering.”

The Sign on Day is on at the Arthur Titley Centre Saturday, 6 March 2021 from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
