Get Ready Volunteer Workshops to enhance volunteer workforce

Back

Volunteers across the Region are being encouraged to attend a free Get Ready Volunteer Workshop later this month.

Charters Towers Regional Council and Volunteering Queensland will host free training sessions aimed at supporting local organisations and groups in managing their volunteer workforce.

The workshops will also provide an overview on the types of disaster response those in the Charters Towers Region can expect to see in our community.

Volunteering Queensland staff will travel to Greenvale, Pentland, Charters Towers, Ravenswood, and Hervey Range to deliver a two-hour session in each township between Friday, 26 March and Sunday 28 March 2021.

Mayor Frank Beveridge, also Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, said this is an excellent opportunity for organisations who have a volunteer workforce to enhance their skills in managing that workforce as well as gaining an understanding of disaster responses within their community.

The Get Ready Volunteer Workshops are funded under the joint Australian Government – State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018 through the FNQ & NQ Monsoon Trough Cat C – Flexible Funding Program.
