Council seeks community feedback

Charters Towers Regional Council has reached out to the community for consultation on three draft initiatives.

Locals have been asked to provide feedback on the draft 2021 - 2025 Corporate Plan, draft Towers Hill Masterplan, and Local Laws Review.

The Corporate Plan is the primary strategic planning document for Council and outlines the new vision and mission, community and organisational focus areas, as well as ways to assess our progress.

This document will set the tone for Council’s strategic direction over the next five years.

Towers Hill Masterplan provides an overview of some of the opportunities to further develop Towers Hill for the benefit of the community and Charters Towers’ tourism industry.

Our draft document seeks to provide a clear vision for the overall aspiration, while highlighting the aspects of the plan that Council can deliver now, and what will require us to source funding to turn the potential into reality.

Meanwhile, the draft Local Laws Review proposes updates to the local laws first adopted back in 2011.

Mayor Frank Beveridge said the proposed local laws changes are unlikely to affect most residents within the Region.

“Only a small number of people are expected to be impacted by some of the proposed local law changes, and we will provide advice to those people,” he said.

All three documents are available for review on Council’s website and include the steps on providing feedback.

Mayor Beveridge said the community can have a say.

“We have made each of the draft documents freely available on our website and we encourage feedback on them.

“Printed versions of the draft 2021-2025 Corporate Plan and draft Towers Hill Master Plan, as well as hard copies of the proposed local laws will be made available at Council’s Administration Centre in Charters Towers, the Excelsior Library and Visitor Information Centre,” Cr Beveridge said.
