Reading of Water Meters
Council officers will undertake annual water meter readings across the Region from today, Friday, 28 May 2021 until Friday, 4 June 2021.
Charters Towers properties that have a Smart Water Meter are not required to have a manual read, however, Council will read a sample of meters.
Residents are asked to provide acceptable access to properties for readings, with dogs being suitably restrained if required. Removal of tall grass from around the meter, allowing the meter to be easily located, would also be appreciated.
Should the meter be unable to be read for any reason, a note of the advice will be left, and Council will follow up with the property owner to resolve the matter.
Water Notices are issued with your first Half Yearly Rates Notice (in September 2021.)
If you have any questions, please contact Council’s Rates Section on 07 4761 5300.
Special Note: Water meters are read by Council once per year. Property owners / residents are encouraged to monitor usage throughout the year to avoid unexpected excess water levies. Property owners / residents in Charters Towers can monitor water consumption through the free MiWater website: charterstowers.aqualus.com
