Charters Towers Region ratepayers have a couple of weeks left to nominate how they would like to be charged for their water.Charters Towers, ratepayers, water, tariff, Council, two-part, Councillor Alan Barr

Tariff nominations close Monday 23 August and residential users can opt between an allocation tariff or a two-part tariff.

The allocation tariff is recommended for households with consumption over 450 kilolitres per year.

It is an annual fixed charge combining the Access Charge with an annual allowance of water up to 750 kilolitres.

Residents opting for the two-part tariff will have to pay the Access Charge and also for the consumption of water.

Two-part tariffs are recommended for residential users who consume less than 450 kilolitres of water per year.

Councillor Alan Barr, whose portfolio includes water and wastewater, said Council has made it easy for people to choose what tariff they would like to go on.

“Locals can go to our website and click on the link to read all about the allocations and nominate which one they would like to use,” he said.

“Alternatively, they can either come into Council’s Administration Centre in Charters Towers or talk to a Council officer on the phone.”
