Dog owners told to clean up after their pet
Charters Towers dog owners have been urged to clean up after their pets.
The calls come after Council has noticed dog faeces left along popular walking paths around the Region including Towers Hill.
A Council spokesman said it is important residents are responsible pet owners.
“Areas like Towers Hill are popular with not only locals but visitors as well,” he said.
“It’s important those areas can be enjoyed by everyone.
“Council has bags available at the bottom and top of the hill for dog owners to use to put their animals waste into.
“They can dispose of that at any of the bins provided to help keep the area neat and tidy for fellow users.”
Anyone caught not picking up and disposing of their animal’s waste could face fines.
Under the local laws pet owners could face a fine of $275 for not picking up and throwing away waste from their animals.
Council said they don’t want to issue any fines and are instead trying to raise awareness of the issue before it gets to that stage.
