Nominations open soon for Aus Day awards
Residents of the Charters Towers Region are being called on to nominate unsung heroes in the community for the 2022 Australia Day Awards.
The annual Australia Day Awards program is an opportunity to recognise the valuable achievements of individuals who contribute to the Region.
Mayor Frank Beveridge is encouraging residents from across the Region to nominate those people who give their time and talents for the betterment of the community.
“Countless hours are contributed to our community weekly by many residents through charities, committees and organisations,” he said.
“Communities like ours are vibrant because of the hard work and generosity of these individuals and groups.
“There are so many people in our Region that deserve to be recognised for being outstanding role models and community advocates.
“They are individuals and groups who have excelled in their chosen field; be it sport, arts or culture.
“We want to acknowledge and reward these outstanding individuals, organisations and groups who are committed to improving our Region’s lifestyle.
“We need the community to nominate these people, so we can recognise their contributions and say thank you for all their hard work,” Mayor Beveridge said.
Nominations will open on Friday, 3 September 2021 and close 4pm Friday, 19 November 2021.
