New website to help boost visitor numbers
There’s a new look and feel to the Visit Charters Towers website.
The updated online tourism site has officially been launched and will serve as the first point of contact for many visitors looking to holiday in the Charters Towers Region.
Councillor Julie Mathews, whose portfolio includes tourism economic development and tourist attractions, said the refreshed site was the next step in the Charters Towers Destination Management Plan.
“Council released the plan last year to create a road map on how to increase visitor numbers to the Region and have it stand out as a holiday destination,” she said.
“In February we launched the new tourism branding to help set the Region apart from other destinations.
“The refreshed website is the latest step in carrying out the Destination Management Plan,” Cr Mathews said.
The website redesign took more than five months of hard work and encompasses all the important visitor information a holidaymaker would need to know about the Charters Towers Region.
Users can go online and find out information about local tours, accommodation, restaurants, pubs, attractions and much more.
Embedded social media buttons on the site also make it easier for people to share with their friends and family to further promote the Region.
Councillor Mathews said the website is a very important tool to boosting tourism in the Region.
“Council staff will be continually updating and making improvements to the website to ensure the best online experience for visitors.
“This updated site is easier to navigate, more user-friendly and more engaging than the previous one,” she said.
