2021 Light Up Our World Christmas Lights Competition

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Charters Towers! 

Council is encouraging residents to enter the annual ‘Light Up Our World’ Christmas Lights Competition. 

Show your spirit by adorning your home, business, or community organisation’s premises in Christmas lights and decorations. 

Councillor Graham Lohmann, whose portfolio includes Community Events, is encouraging everyone to get involved. 

“There are fantastic prizes on offer and entry is free, so it’s a great opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer. 

“Each year we have a number of entrants and we would love to get more people involved,” Cr Lohmann said. 

Categories include:

• Best Residential House
• Best Nativity Scene
• Best Street
• Best Business Premises Window Display

Entries for all categories can be completed online, with the exception of ‘Best Street’.  Applications for ‘Best Street’ must be made by downloading the Entry Form and submitting to Council. 

Council will again be creating the annual Christmas Lights Trail map from those properties that are registered.

Entries close 4pm Thursday, 9 December 2021 and winners will be announced at the Christmas Markets on Thursday, 16 December 2021.
