Move It Christmas Celebrations for Charters Towers Kids

Back

The popular free after-school youth sports programme Move It NQ will be hosting a ‘Laser Skirmish Christmas Party’ on Monday, 29 November 2021.

Laser skirmish is a fun game of ‘hide and seek’ using an infra-red beam, similar to the remote of your TV, and is perfectly safe, with no contact or mess.

Councillor Kate Hastie, whose portfolio includes sport and recreation, said this is a great opportunity to experience the Move It Programme.

“The event is open to all school-aged children within our Region and will give a taste of what the Move It Programme has to offer,” she said.

The Move It Programme has helped introduce many of our young people to different sporting activities that they may not otherwise have access to, encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles.

During Term 4 the variety of activities enjoyed by Move It NQ participants included Acrobatics, Dance, My Golf, MMA, Pilates and Bodyweight Circuit, Soccer, Taekwondo, Tennis, and Touch Football.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for parents to give feedback on preferences for youth activities moving forward,” Cr Hastie said.

The fun will start at 3.30pm and finish at 6pm and parental permission is required.  To register your child or find out more information about the Move It Programme visit www.charterstowers.qld.gov.au/community/events or call Council on 4761 5300.

The Move It Programme is an initiative of Charters Towers Regional Council, funded by North Queensland Sports Foundation and facilitated by Bodyfix Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology
