Santa Claus is coming to town

It’s true!  Santa Claus is coming to Charters Towers to share a little of the festive spirit with the young and young at heart.

The Charters Towers Police and Charters Towers Fire and Rescue will be helping Santa make an appearance in the city streets to greet the children and remind them that he will be visiting soon and is watching to see who has been naughty or nice!

Councillor Graham Lohmann, whose portfolio includes Community Events, is encouraging parents and children to save the date of Thursday, 8 December in their calendar.

“We heard that Santa was so impressed with the children last year, that he has decided to return to spread more joy,” said Cr Lohmann.

A route map will be shared closer to Santa’s visit and will be available on Council’s website so that families can plan ahead for the best vantage point to see Santa as he drives around.

Santa will be travelling in style again this year in ‘Flick’ the vintage fire truck under Police escort to add to the magic and excitement of Christmas for the children of Charters Towers.

“Make sure to be outside to wave to Santa and his friends as they deliver gifts and lollies.

“As Santa is very busy at this time of year, he will only be able to visit selected streets, but there will be parks on route in case he isn’t passing your house,” continued Councillor Lohmann.

Santa will be starting his journey from 5.15pm to travel through the main streets of Charters Towers before heading back to the North Pole to pack up his sleigh.
