Dave Chapman Park Closure

Dave Chapman Park will be closed to the public as of Friday, 13 January.

River levels at the Burdekin Weir have risen considerably and the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting rain and thunderstorms in the catchment over the coming week.

To protect the safety of recreational users of the river, Council will close the Dave Chapman Park and Boat Launching Ramp as of Friday, 13 January.  No boating activities will be permitted within the reach of the River above the weir until further notice.

This closure does not impact access to the Weir Park adjacent to the Water Pumping station.  This area remains open to the public.

Council appreciates that this will affect recreational users of the river, and will re-open the facility as soon as possible.
