Locals are encouraged to get creative with arts funding

Charters Towers Region locals are being urged to get creative and apply for Round 2 of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

RADF is a partnership between Council and the Queensland Government to support quality arts and cultural experiences across Queensland, promoting the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of diverse and inclusive communities and strong regions.

More than $30,000 has been made available to help fund art projects in the Charters Towers Region that have a community benefit.

Councillor Graham Lohmann said it’s an opportunity to consider and capitalise on new, and even unlikely, partnerships that will strengthen our community.

“These grants can help fund events, festivals, workshops, or to activate local places or spaces.

“You don’t have to be an arts group or be an artist to apply for the funding,” said Councillor Lohmann.

Individuals and organisations applying for RADF funding must be based in the Charters Towers Region, or if based outside the local council area, must be able to demonstrate how the project will directly benefit arts and culture in the Region.

“Council is looking for applications that will deliver on the current priorities for RADF, which include providing public value, building local cultural capacity, cultural innovation and community well-being.

“All applications will be assessed against criteria that includes quality, reach, impact, and viability,” continued Councillor Lohmann.

Applications for Round 2 of 2022-23 close on Friday, 24 March 2023.
