Local family take the plunge at the KRMP

A local family is excited to be making a splash following the announcement that they have been appointed as new managers of the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool (KRMP).

Andrew and Tracy Maff (ATM Aquatics), who are a well known family within the community, commenced as managers of the facility from today (Thursday, 1 June 2023) and are already making positive waves.

Following a call for tenders from suitably qualified tenderers for the operational management of the facility in February, the new lessee arrangement was endorsed at Council’s May General Meeting.

Councillor Kate Hastie said Council was very pleased to welcome ATM Aquatics as the new managers of the Pool.

“It is very pleasing to see this facility managed by someone who is part of our community and understands the needs of local patrons,” continued Councillor Hastie.

Operating hours for the KRMP will remain as per Council’s advised hours, currently Winter Hours, and can be found on Council’s website.

As well as managing the KRMP facility, ATM Aquatics will also commence as managers of the Charters Towers Water Park from 1 October 2023.

This new arrangement is expected to create an efficient and enjoyable experience for both staff and customers and have a positive impact on the community.

Tracy Maff, Director of ATM Aquatics, says their family is excited to have the opportunity to run the Kennedy Regiment Memorial Pool for the Charters Towers community, and they look to create a safe, vibrant, and inclusive facility.

“We understand the Pool is a vital recreational space for all ages and all abilities in the community - this gives us a great opportunity to reinvigorate the aquatic facility and build more community connections with a new health focused cafe, dynamic programs and activities, and improved overall visitor experience.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the Pool”, said Mrs Maff.

Current multi-passes held by patrons will be honoured by the incoming managers, ensuring that use of the facility will continue as usual.

Council would also like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge JMS Aquatics for their hard work and management of the KRMP facility since 2018.

Council looks forward to working closely with ATM Aquatics and is excited by their enthusiasm and vision for the facility and encourages the community to follow their Facebook page @Charters Towers Swimming Pool to keep up to date with Pool news.
